Introduced in 2009, the National Triolian 12-Fret captures the look and feel of the late 1930’s W-Series Triolians. The name refers to the original cone design of the first 12 prototype models, which had a single cone top covering up a tri-cone setup inside. They kept the name, even after switching to a single-cone design for the production models.

The thin-gauge steel body is highlighted by flat cut “f” holes, a formed back, and traditional sieve-hole coverplate. Each body is hand painted in walnut-burst to capture the look of the originals. The maple neck clears 12 frets to the body and features an ivoroid-bound rosewood fretboard complete with inlaid mother-of-pearl position markers. Tuners are vintage-style engraved, open gear.

This Triolian sounds quite great… it is loud, punchy, and brash without being harsh on the ears. The signature sound of the early models of the 30’s were made famous by Delta Blues players such as Blind Boy Fuller.
